In June of 2023, I wrote blog titled Family-Friendly New Orleans in which I promoted New Orleans as a great place to travel with kids. But why listen to me, when an eleven-year-old so passionately explains why New Orleans is one of her favorite places to visit? Here is her view of the city.
I like to visit my grandparents in New Orleans and see my uncles, aunt, cousin, and the dogs. I love to walk in City Park, see the squirrels and the bayou, visit the dog park with my grandparents dog Lola, go to the Farmers’ Market, and smell and eat tasty beignets at Cafe du Monde. Walks in the neighborhood take me to the snowball stand and to Ms. Susan’s house to cook. I love to help cook crawfish etouffee, a New Orleans original.
The streetcar will take me to museums, gardens where I take nature walks, the Audubon Zoo, and to the French Quarter. Founded by the French, the French Quarter has something for everyone. You can go to Preservation Hall to hear jazz music, to Jackson Square and the St. Louis Cathedral, with two brick buildings* next to it, both museums and one with a mini float. Or you can go on a paddleboat ride down the Mississippi River, out to dinner, and to plays at Le Petit.
I love going to New Orleans for a taste of New Orleans culture.
